Xanga
Invasion!

for Xander's Xanga
Oct 8 11:42 PM - Ah
yes, so I've finally decided to do what I've been holding off to do for so
long---that is, to create a Xanga. I'm taking time OUT of writing my college
resume so I can do this...
Not like I need a Xanga---I can vent out
stuff on my site perfectly well, and have been for a long time, but... I
guess it's a little different on a blog--first off, being able to write
anywhere, anytime--whereas at Angelex, I'm restricted to when I'm home,
and when my internet feels like working. Really annoys the crap out of me.
I always have things in my mind that I want to write about--except I just
don't have the time/means to do it all the time, and usually by the time I
do, it just... fades away... I still need to find my rant notebook that
I've kept for the past 4 years...
Okay, well I'm not expecting anything to
be different, but i really need to write a lot more--(I'm making that
resolution right now!)-and hopefully, this Xanga fad will let me do that.
Ciao y'all, Xander'll be around~
Religious Roundtable Thingy!
UPDATED-
Sept 28 12:36 PM - Hmm... well, here's my version
of the RR thing--I believe this general design will be going into the
T-shirts--I was just bored this morning and decided to make an online
version of it. Here it is--in a nice looking style. The original template is
in black and white. I'm still debating if incorporating more religions into
the logo would be a good thing to do--so far, its managed to keep its
simplicity and I think it looks nice. So far, the three predominant
monotheistic religious are represented as well as the Yin Yang symbol.
Credits go to whoever came up with the original idea, the original design--I
simply transcribed it onto a digital medium.
The
Chand Sitara was perfect as a "C" and the Cross was a perfect T,
however, other religious symbols weren't nearly as flexible. Putting in the
Hindu symbol would be nice as it would represent the third largest religious
group in the world. Also, the Buddhist symbol... grr... I hate
complications. Just to let people know, the current
design is by no means complete.
This is the Hindu symbol. Anyone who can find a nice place to fit it
in--please, let me know.

Last Day of Summer Food Party! -
Xander
Aug 26 - Continuing our tradition from the last three
years, we're having another Last Day of Summer Lunch/Dinner on Tuesday.
There, we'll have nice food to enjoy while we have nice talk with everyone
there--some serious things perhaps, mostly just "chillaxing" (new
word added to lexicon).
Anubhav (that bechai pinyata)was in charge
of this operation until he broke under the pressure:
anubhav k7: damit i dont care anymore
anubhav k7: just tell me when and where and ill show up
So I've taken over, and here are our plans:
The Itinerary (Tuesday, August
26th, 2003)
Lunch: Pizza Hut (Ogden Mall) 12:30 P.M
Dinner: Pepe's (optional--not finalized)
And here are our rides. This is just how I've
organized them taking in location and driving ability into account, but feel
free to switch around to your convenience. Just make sure everyone can get
there.
Drivers: Passenger(s):
Nick: Nick P-La, Haj, Cal
Jason: Jason, Bhav, Dev, Sully
Jon: Jon, Jon, Dave, Adnaan*.
XL: XL (late arrival)
Me: Me
Other people were invited but some just can't seem to go... those
people--expect a post card in the mail sometime soon. If you wanna join
in--feel free to call, or just drop on by around 12:30. While I'm not sure
of what else we're doing, the lunch plan is finalized. If I've
forgotten anyone, then feel free to call up anyone here. But there's always
the possibility of a totally failed operation... like the last 5 times we've
planned for a Six Flags trip.
Vegetarianism Over!
Jul 20 - My foray into the realm of vegetarianism came to an abrupt
halt today when I had the most amazing lunch ever. The past week without
meat was just about the most food related pain filled week of my life. Let
me tell you now, it felt like no matter how much I ate, I wasn't getting
filled. I always felt hungry, so much to a point that I actually had to
think to see whether or not I was actually hungry, or just on a meat
crave. I could seriously feel my body telling me that I was missing
something important. It's really cool but also really weird that I can
sense what I need. I think somehow, unconsciously I know what foods give
me the nutrients I need. I didn't really feel anything, but three days
into it, I saw Rohit's chicken sandwich, and had a very weird jolt of
energy run through me telling me that I needed that chicken. Weird as all
anything, but I'm glad it's over. I've learned two things on this test of
mine--(1) that I love meat more than I realized, and (2) that I don't need
to eat meat every day at every meal to satisfy myself. So I guess it's a
draw to Anubhav, whom I actually did try to make happy (even though I
vehemently denied it). It was an experience... maybe I'll do it again
sometime.
Vegi Starts Today
Jul 14 - Full blown vegetarianism for me and a few
others in the Posse have started as of 12:01 AM Monday.
I just want to see if I can do it--not as a test of
willpower or self-control, but rather just to see if I can still
(figuratively) survive on a meatless diet. I've been a meat eater for
6,622 days of my life--7 days without meat... this is a going to be a big
deal.
For me, now is a good time to try this, because there
are other vegetarians, some temporary like myself, that are doing this
now. Plus, we plan to have a huge all-meat party the day it ends.
So... here's to Day One!
Index Page Counter Removed
Jul 14 - After nearly 450 days of running since this site has been
operational, I've removed the index page counter, and is no longer visible.
I'm doing this for a number of reasons. First of all, because I no longer
think that it serves any purpose. I don't really care if 500 people see it,
or 5000, or even 50. I like working on the site, and that's enough reason
for me to keep working on it. Second, I think it's been malfunctioning
recently. It's been racking up like... 50 visits a day, and somehow many of
them are spread out exactly 10 seconds apart. Something didn't seem right.
But anyway--it's gone now. And at last count, it was at 6799 hits.
I'm Back!!!
Jul 11 - Back from the trip to the west, in one piece!
And alive! With treasures from the desert for everyone I love!
Huge update as soon as I get the time--as for now, I'm
gonna sleep--See y'all a bit later!
Final Update
(till I get back--if I do make it back)
Jun 30 - Well, I'm off--off to the great mountains of the West seeing the great states of CO, WY, and UT. Will take a lot of pictures, write a whole trip
log (thanks for reminding me, Kirk)--and should be back around 7/9/2003. I am taking my cell phone, but I'm not sure if it'll work around
there--I personally think it's gonna be a big waste of time, and I'm gonna
miss everyone around here. But it IS something new, so hopefully, that
means it'll be worth it. But 9 days?
Have you actually thought about how much of summer has gone by already?
It's been 18 days since summer started--18 days--more than a fifth of summer
has gone by already! That means... I think 57 days left (thanks veritatisluce).
57 Days till SCHOOL STARTS AGAIN! It's going by faster than you might
think--if only I was doing something worth my time. Anyway, while I'm gone,
I've given fellow posse members a project--which I don't feel like writing
here. Anyway, ok, here are the things I'm going to be doing there:
1. A trip log--sorta like the one I made during my Florida
trip log.
2. Finish reading some books--I'm taking 2, the new Harry Potter book and
a Wheel of Time book.
3. Start working on my (our) own book. Don't joke--this is serious stuff.
I'll (hopefully) be back with some material.
4. Movie project beginnings.
5. Taking a lot of pictures--many for stock material.
6... whatever else there is.
If by some freak accident--I... don't make it back--I just want the
everyone to know--I love you!!
Bah, what
morbid thoughts--damn I'm not gonna be gone that long... remember your
projects! Onwards with the Posse!!!
Hehe--but I'm invincible aren't I?
Anyway--yea, that's enough for now. Time to get packing. Whatever--I'm
off to war! Keep in touch--those who can!
The Asian Posse
Jun 25 - The Asian Posse Group site is now officially
open, and we finally have the group meeting site that Project Footprint
started out, but failed to be. BUT it is now closed to outsiders.
Summer Has Truly Started
Jun 21 - Of course summer vacation started a week and a
half ago, but to me, the inevitable summer blues have arrived just today.
Today the northern solstice (the longest day of the year for us in the
northern hemisphere) and already it looks like its gonna drag by.
It happens every year--usually starting on the second or
third day of summer, when you wake up in the afternoon and realize
that there is too much time and nothing to do. This year, I've managed to
go 11 days without having this happen; so far, I've always found something
to do that'll make me wake up before 11. But no, not today. It is now 2:43
PM, and I feel like a new phase of summer has started.
But I can't let this go on. I made a commitment to myself
before summer that I wouldn't let it be wasted away--so, I'm gonna start
making plans.
So here's a part-schedule, part-idea list of things I want
to do in the coming weeks:
|
Short Term
Sun - Cricket Game
Mon -- Wed - Visit U of C
Thrs -- Sat - Six Flags |
Longer Term
*Start do and finish movie projects
*Write a damn book
*All that other college crap |
Granted, this isn't a very comprehensive plan to make the most out
of my summer, but it's a start. I'll keep it on here and add to it. If
you're interested in participating in any of the plans, let me know. I'll
get into more detail later.
A Meeting with Mr. Shesha
Jun 18 - Ok, I'm going to write about an experience here so I don't have to
keep repeating myself. Let's see... okay, last night we went this place
called "Mr. Shesha's" which was previously known to us as
"the Shisha place"...
Okay, never mind--I don't feel like writing this now--maybe i'll finish
this later.
College Visit Convoy Set to Leave This Week Jun
15 - Okay, I ain't gonna write much--just know that the CU Convoy is
leaving sometime this week. Here's a bunch of things to do to prepare for
this:
Start a list of questions you'd like to ask admission officers and
students. For example, if you want to participate in a certain activity
in college, be sure to find out if they offer it. If possible, try to meet a
student or faculty member who is involved.
Here are some additional tips for your campus visits:
 | Take a notebook and a camera to record your impressions.
 | Eat in the dining hall and visit the campus bookstore to get a taste
of day-to-day life on campus.
 | Chat with students and find out what they like and don't like about
the school.
 | Ask yourself if you can imagine living and studying at that college
for two or four years. |
| | |
I have these colleges so far, I'll add more if I think
of any around here worth visiting. Northwestern

G-Funk
and the Mystical Jewels
by Joe Nasti
June 4 - I've got to say that
I'm impressed by this work. I remember when Joe started writing this
novelette at James' house on Dev's Pocket PC some time around the middle
of sophomore year--no easy task--if you've ever used one before, you'll
know how hard it is to type in those things. What made this story really
interesting however was how Joe based his characters off of REAL people,
and even named them accordingly (for example, my character, to my dismay
is George Fu's evil twin). Anyway, it's finished now (nice work Nasti!),
and from what I've been hearing, a sequel is already in the works. Lookin'
forward to it! In the meantime... I think I'll start my own lil...story
starting with one character named Joe Nasti...
ANYWAY--HERE
IT IS
Massive Site Overhaul in Planning Phase
Jun 1 - After nearly a year of constant change, I was
fairly satisfied with the way the site ended up and decided on the current
site format early this year (I wouldn't have been able to change it even
if I wanted to--site redesign takes up way too much time). Five months
have passed, and now it's time for a change. This year's sophomore
Enriched Written Web-books were also another reason for this change--some
were particularly amazing.
Anyway, I still haven't decided on what to do--what
ideas to scrap, or what final design to start working on.
Just letting you know...
Religious
Roundtable
May 27 - Last Friday's religious roundtable debates ended with many
good questions still floating around unanswered. For those who don't know,
this roundtable (squaretable) discussion was intended to increase
knowledge and tolerance among people of different religions, and started
by going through several key questions (such as Q1: What is religion?). There
was a significant audience--I'm guessing about 40 people not counting the
panel members. It was really orderly, but sometimes really got off topic,
and dove too deeply into details that few people actually cared to learn
right then and there. Seven religions were represented on the panel: the
Big Three; Christianity, Judaism, and Islam; as well as Hinduism, Baha'i,
Buddism, and Jainism.
As for me, I was on the Christian corner, representing my personal belief
within the United Methodist Church. I quickly found out that not everyone on
my panel shared the same beliefs, but that's expected, considering the vast
numbers (78 I believe) of denominations within the religion. For
non-Christians, and even Christians alike, this can seem confusing,
especially considering that there's only ONE book. But unlike most other religions,
Christianity, especially recently has been one where interpretation is
(almost) everything. There are BIG universalities of Christianity, but the
rest is up to the denominations to decide which to follow, and then within
denominations, there are the individual beliefs that define the ultimate
ends of the faith. Really complicating, and I learned early on to prefix,
"in my personal belief" before everything I said, to be
politically correct. Really, I could feel fundamentalist vibes from the
right side of my table. Anyway... (TO BE CONTINUED AT ANOTHER TIME)
Aftermath of the
Matrix Reloaded Project
May 16 - Wow, ok, first of all, I'd like to say to
everyone in the world to GO SEE THE DAMN MOVIE! Sure it could have been
better; there could have been more new stuff to it. That's why the
original Matrix succeeded as well as it did, and those who were expecting
the same experience were undoubtedly disappointed. But for those who
really appreciated the Matrix for what it was, in addition to the novel
camera techniques are in for a treat. I would have written a damn review,
but I have such a friggin headache right now.
Dammit, I can't write at all... ok forget this review,
I'll do it some other time. BTW, Link is the funniest character in
the Matrix.
Other tidbits -- What was it with the cake?
There was this one scene in Reloaded where this hot girl
eats a cake--and something happens. She seems to be feeling,
something, and the French dude is talking about how she doesn't understand
it at first... but later...blah, blah, as the camera switches to the
Matrix code and zooms in between her legs, then entering her body. But
what was actually happening? She retreats to the restroom afterwards,
leaving us to guess that really happened. Here are three prevailing
interpretations:
Me: I thought it was obvious that it was an orgasm
cake--eat it and you have an orgasm, how better can a cake be?
PLA: PLA, on the other hand thought she was growing a
penis! Ruining my... appreciation of the cake and the scene.
JLee: JLee, thought that it was a diarrhea cake, and
that she was going to the bathroom to take a dump--the most ridiculous
version I've heard yet.
What did the cake really do? I don't know (yet).
Operation:
The Matrix Reloaded
May 14 - Finally! The day has come--thank you God the wait is almost
OVER!
Am I overreacting? Well, it's only THE biggest movie
release so far this year, anticipating nearly $150 million domestically
for the first weekend. The hype has been up for so long that it's hard to
remember a time when we weren't waiting for Reloaded. So, as
faithful fans, believers, and zealots, we've gone ahead of the game to
pre-acquire tickets, and we actually have a few left over now. We also
thought ahead of time, and knowing that the movie is rated "R"
(and the bastards at AMC don't let you in) our ticketmaster has come up
with a glorious plan. Here are the details:
Movie location:
Movie time:
Total tickets: 12 |
Cinemark
Friday, 7:00 PM (we'll be there by 6:00) |
These people are gonna be going (if I've forgotten anyone--don't take
it personally!):
The Officials (position)
-ME (coordinator/driver #1)
-Balbale (ticketmaster/possible driver #4)
-JLee (driver #2)
-Kirk (driver #3)
The Subordinates (driver)
Bhav (1), Haj (1), J (2/3), Duang (2), PLA (1/2/3), Ko (3), JLi (1/2)
The loser phatmen DJ abandoned us cuz they've got prom on Saturday, and
hotel they're staying at their hotel till Sunday (obviously they won't be
getting much--j/k). So, assuming that I haven't forgotten anyone, that
leaves us *1* ticket. (thinks of potentials). Anyway, any people who
haven't paid our ticketmaster yet, make sure you do--$5.50. If you somehow
believe you are eligible for a waiving of the ticket fee--speak to me...
personally--lol. Otherwise--keep in touch with these details... and me.
;-)
Mirror Site Now
Operational
Apr 28 - I've created a mirror (copy) of Angelex
primarily because, the retarded school internet security system seems to
think that Angelex is some porn site (or some other stupid reason) and is
blocking its access. The mirror can be found at http://agxs.tripod.com.
Scholastic Bowl!
Apr 22 - NOW, finally, Scholastic Bowl pictures have
been released! I'm expecting some fire for not securing everyone's
permission, but I've dealt with such before--I can take it.

The Angelex
Project
is a Year Old!!!
Apr 4 - It feels kind of weird thinking about it, but
it's been a whole year since this site broke off of Project College to
continue to real project. A WHOLE YEAR!!! It just feels so... surreal. I
mean, it's not like its some life changing event, but the sheer amount of
time that's gone by since its inception. It's like... a milestone to gauge
how much time has gone by. I remember when I first started the project on
April 4th 2002, after leaving a resignation letter at Project College (to
bad I don't have it saved). When this site first started, we were
still hard at work in starting our semester project (well maybe that was a
little later), and we had big dreams about how our website would be a communal
meeting place. Haha! Some communal meeting place that Angelex has become.
Indeed a lot of things have changed since the project started. It's also
equally hard to believe that a quarter of 2003 has gone by, and even
harder to believe that we're in the last quarter of Junior year. I mean,
wow, what the hell... But that's another story, for a different
reflection. Happy birthday Angelex!!
BTW, the birthday of the project may be 4/4/2002, but
the birthday of the site is actually the seventh (4/7/2002), so its first
birthday is the coming Monday.
Schtuff...
Hey I need something to put in here
Mar 29 - Spring break is now in its second day, and I've got too much
to say. So here's a little chain of rants about movies:
Signs was pointless, The Core was okay, Basic was
amazing, The Hunted was retarded, Dreamcatcher was weird in a good
way, Old School was hilarious, Bringing Down the House was
dumb, Star Trek was a money waster, 8 Mile rocked, Cradle 2 the
Grave was just BAD...
And the list can go on...
Crazy Maniac on the
Road!
Mar 26 - Driving to school this morning, there was this
f***ed up guy in a pickup:
ReJoovenation: grargag..... oh yea OMG, there was this friggin crazy bastard on the road this morning-iforgot to tell u
Underpnts Gnomes: haha tell tell
ReJoovenation: this crazy dude in a pickup-- he was like driving all over the road, and swiping mail boxes, and he like sideswiped this van at a stop light
ReJoovenation: i was like 3 cars behind him but seriously, he left a path of destruction right in front of me
Underpnts Gnomes: scary....
ReJoovenation: i got stopped at the stop light he passed, and i saw the van person looking freaked out and calling on her cell
ReJoovenation: the basttard crashed like 400 feet after the stop light, his whole front was busted
Underpnts Gnomes: wow.....
ReJoovenation: i was gonna call 911 but my backpack was in the back
ReJoovenation: couldnt reach
ReJoovenation: i was kinda annoyed that i didnt get to see the moron crash
I didn't actually get to see him crash cuz he was about 400 feet past
the stop light. It's funny how I wasn't worried, and after I stopped at
the light, I thought 'damn, I should have kept going' followed him, I
mean. It's not like he was a big threat to drivers behind him. I wonder
what his malfunction was... maybe he was drunk, or maybe it was some kid
that drove off in his dad's pickup. Who knows... oh well. It was my most
eventful drive.
Day 200
Mar 15 - It has officially been two hundred days
since the start of the 2002 - 2003 NNHS school year.
What does this mean? Nothing really. Other than being a
milestone declaring about two thirds of the school year over. Time has
really been going by far too quickly nowadays -- more reason to understand
its value. I've come to realize a lot of things related to time, and its
passing. It really is a bit dismal if you think about it for too long. If
you keep thinking, you'll end up thinking about how much time is left is
school--not just the school year, but it "school," the little time
left with your family, time left till adulthood, and so forth, until you end
up thinking about how much time is left to live. If you're lucky, you might
have 25,000 days to live. That may seem like a lot, that is, till you
realize that those days ticking down till your death... I've already
lived more than 6,000 days -- and right now, I'm wondering, 'Have I spent
those 6,000 days, which I'll never get back, well?'
I think its worth thinking about.
Several Projects Inaugurated, Publicly Announced
Feb 17 - Several significant undertakings are
currently in the works and keeping with Angelex traditions, have organized
each of them under "projects" which shall encompass all efforts
from pre-production to final publishing (or whatever event signifies its
closure).
The purpose of announcing projects is none other than a
selfish need for public awareness and to provide progress reports to
whomever might be interested.
Each announced project will have a project insignia,
description along with any other information deemed significant and fitting
for unveiling, and will be kept in a new section appropriately labeled
"Projects". Below is the first announced project.
Vivacious McDonald's Feb
12 - I've just encountered the most cheery McDonald's cashier person
ever (female, about 22-ish, 5'4" -- not that it matters). Usually they
have this annoyed look and are straight down to business, but not this
person--I couldn't help but smile at the amusement. Here's the dialogue: Person:
What's up?
Me: Hey... Do you take the Husky Saver card? (hands card over for her to
see)
Person: "FREE large sandwich with purchase of extra value
meal." (studies it closely) I'm sorry, I've never seen this card.
(pauses). But I'll do it for you because you look innocent.
Me: (somewhat taken aback) Thanks!
Person: I recommend number 10 (the double cheeseburger meal--which
coincidentally was exactly what I had in mind.)
Me: That's exactly what I had in mind!
Person: Oh really? I must be psychic! No pickles and extra onions?
Me: (amused by this discrepancy) Actually, keep the pickes, but take
out the onions.
Person: Aww... dammit. Okay. She proceeded to
take the FREE sandwich order. Person:
Okay--$1.68 is your change, (hands medium cup) and take your beverage while
you're waiting sir!
Me: Thank you. So I go over to the bev
section and am outfitting myself with a Coke when she walks over and hands
me my food bag. Person: Here's your food--I
even walked it over to you! Aren't I nice? She
walks back to her spot behind the counter, but not before slapping my ass
twice. As I'm leaving, she waves frantically. Weird McDonald's person...
Raging Debate in ENALC
Feb 11 - A furious debate arose in Mrs. Biggs's ENALC
class today in the form of Fu-vs-everyone. Disputing everything from
"what an American" really is to the notion of the "American
Dream", Junior Fu made statements that stirring many other students
including myself, and Mrs. Biggs. Fu's attempt to speak for the
"Americans" slighted several students who didn't share his views
on the American Dream.
Though boasting a new Democratic face, provocative remarks
against Chinese-Americans and other reactionary views by Fu brought the
class into a powered back-and-forth disagreement.
"Above anything, you have to be American--you can't have both,"
Fu said, regarding Chinese culture and other immigrant cultures within
American society.
Disagreeing students made up the bulk of the speakers. Other views were
openly expressed by other classmates in varying degrees.
"Coming to America doesn't mean that you have to give up your
cultural identity," said Huang (I think).
More shall be provided as available.
Model United Nations
Feb 6 - Due to the MUN conference being held from the 6th
to the 9th, I'm missing school Thursday and Friday.
Poems and Poetry
Feb 1 - Now aren't I bored?
Most people ignore most poetry because most poetry
ignores most people.
- Adrian Mitchell
Very
true, but I thought this poem was pretty good.
There's no thrill in easy sailing
When the skies are clear and blue.
There's no joy in merely doing things
Which any one can do.
But there is some satisfaction,
That is mighty sweet to take,
When you reach a destination that
You thought you'd never make.

Art Tree
Updated!
Jan 1 - I have just completed uploading new
material for the New World Art section on the Art Tree. This is the first
time I've updated that section of Angelex in nearly 5 months--quite
shameful, but the other sections take up a lot of time.
So, click here (or the link on

Powell
Works the Phones, Wants More Pressure
Dec 23 - Okay, a little bit if this type of humor is
okay once in a while. Look at this Bianca style humor:
"Over the past several days, Powell has been
intensely working the phones, urging leaders of each country to exert
pressure..."
-- uh huh.. you know what the old man is up to... reow!!!
Movies
that look Amazing!
Dec 14 - Despite seeing
the worst Star Trek movie EVER, I still have hope in the entertainment
industry to make good movies. Here's a small list of the movie's that I'm
dying to see:
 | The Core (looks sweet-ass amazing) |
 | The Recruit (cool looking + hot girl!) |
 | LOTR: The Two Towers ('nuff said) |
 | 8 Mile (never got around to it) |
 | The Matrix Reloaded |
There are more, but this is just enough to fill this box
for an update, so blah!
Busy
Week Expected
Dec 3 - For those wondering why I haven't been updating
this site as regularly as I used to, I'll just quote the 121st Rule of
Angelex, whice states that "when Bennett, Morse and Gratz team up,
updates to Angelex shall not happen as planned". I'll upload a pic of a
stone tablet to prove to you that this law exists, and it's probably gonna
be like this for the rest of this damn week.
In the mean time, there's a new item in Odds and Ends,
titled A Dictionary of Foreign
Phrases in Contemporary English Use. Pretty self-explanatory if
you ask me, but for the remiss mind, I'll explain.
On second thought, I'm running out of time. Honors
Pre-calc w/Trig awaits working on.
What's
Your Life Expectancy?
Nov 17 - BBC continues to offer
cool questionnaires, and this one statistically calculates your life
expectancy. Granted, it isn't a comprehensive exam, but still, *why
not*? it only takes 3 minutes! Learn some health facts on how to live healthier
and longer while you're at it!
Statistically, I am to live 92.6
years--tell that to the insurance companies! *Sigh*... that's a long wait
just to die... and its a long ways to 2077.
Take
the test yourself!

Archive that I've made for more!
Forum
Structure Changed
Oct 28 - Due to several factors, and my own need
to organize all the crap, I've changed the structure of the forums. Three
forums are currently active:
New Central Forum - Your basic site forum. Talks
about anything you want, and is open for all.
NNHS Related Forum - Meant to assist is stuff
related to school. Post announcements, assignments, and project info here.
*Unfortunately, due to this one person, who exploits
the service (annoying the people who actually do the work), the section is
now protected. You must first sign up on ezboard as a member (takes about
2 minutes) to log in. Then there's another requirement after that also...
College Related Forum - Originally meant for
Project: College, it has been put on hold, despite the critical timing.
The forum is the only part of the project that can potentially be of use
at the moment.
Back
to Standard Time!
Oct 27 - We are now FINALLY out of the damned
daylight savings time (also known as summer time), and back to central
standard time (CST) as of October 27th 2:00 AM CST. Make sure you
set your clocks back an hour, and don't go to school an hour earlier that
you're supposed to on Monday! Enjoy your extra hour!
Remember, we set clocks back ahead an hour in April
6th, 2003! As a rule according the Uniform Time
Act of 1966 (amended 1972 and in 1986), daylight savings time starts at 2
AM on the first Sunday in April, and ends at 3:00:00 CDT (then on the next
second, the time is moved back to 2:00:01 CST) the last Sunday in October.

here for more info on: Daylight Savings Time!
PERPETUAL
IMMOTION
Oct 20 - Newton's 1st law stated that an object at rest
will stay at rest unless an outside force acts upon it. Angelex
unfortunately is 'momentarily' in a state of 'perpetual immotion' (if that
makes any sense). There are no forces within, or without Angelex that are
acting on it--that's right, not even the Earth's gravity of 6.67 x 10-11
kg2/m/s2 * 5.98 x 1024 / 3.38 x 105
N of force has any use here.
4 Day Weekend:
Halfway through
Oct 13 - Now that we are officially into the
weekend, it seems as if time is flowing away. There was an incident that
cut short the dance held at the CCC, but thankfully, it wasn't too
serious. I really can't talk about it unless I'm going to say it all, but
I'm really too tired to type.
The Angelex front page has gone through some slight
rearranging and is now in a more logical format, and I'm sure you'll find
whatever you're looking for. As for me, I'm going to sleep. Nitey!
All netfirms.com
Sites BLOCKED on the NNHS Internet System
Oct 4 - The computers at NNHS serving the
students now block all Netfirms sites, which includes this site. I
discovered this yesterday after going to the IRC during the second portion
of lunch to do a routine checkup on how Angelex looks on school
computers--tedious work, of refining the sizes and colors of the site. But
now, all that work has been rendered wasted, since the school computers
will no longer be able to access the site. Reasons for this are not yet
known (Tripod remains reachable), but it is possible that some kid had a
disturbing site, and that led to the blocking of his, and all other
Netfirms's sites. I do not feel that such a notion is justified, and I
intend to protest against this.
The direct impact of the blockage is difficult to
measure, as Angelex is primarily driven by input from the creator, rather
than the viewers (as is with forums). But that does not reduce the
potential impact it might have. This site is intended to be school
friendly, and by blocking the site completely, the school damages the
credibility of Angelex. In any case, this shall be stopped. E-mail me with
your ideas and suggestions! skyiren@hotmail.com
Movie Rankings
and Recaps!
Sept 22 - I've taken the liberty to post up a ranking of
all the movies I've ever seen (well, the ones I remember anyway). Know
that it is NOT scientifically based, and is merely my opinion of the
movies listed. Also posted is a list of several movies which I have
briefly recapped after watching. A mini-review of sorts. And there are
game rankings too!

Cinematography and Filmmaking!
Sept 7 - Since this idea was first conceived a
year ago, things have progressed (albeit slowly), but now we are finally
ready to start this endeavor. We have the software we need, scene
locations, and plenty of ideas to go around. A screenplay for a movie is
being written off of one of them, and it indeed seems promising. We have
further plans--including the initiation of a new club in our school, and a
talk show with NCTV sponsorship. Still, we are lacking several fundamental assets,
including actors (of varying ethnicity and gender), equipment (microphones
and cameras most needed!), and most of all, expertise. We really could use
some help here. Talk to me if you are interested.

a list of them so that you can stalk these people during the school year
(I'm j/kin' y'all). I can't believe we're juniors already! And just a
little while ago, we were little freshmen... lol!
Expect this stuff to stay until the second day of
school. So far we've got schedules for the following 16 people:

Angelex to
Collect College Resources and Information
August 21 - As we enter our junior year, it has
come time when we should seriously be thinking about which colleges to
apply to and how to pay it. If you were one of the many
people who are beginning to get a little worried (or maybe very worried--like
me) that they don't know enough about the process or even about where to
go, then maybe we can collaborate and help each other out here. By the end
of this week new section called Project: College will be created
which will eventually be filled information on this whole topic, links to relevant
sites. A whole new forum
has already been made for this topic. My parents seem to think that
my whole life before this was to prepare for college--though I don't
completely share that view--I do understand its importance. Hopefully, we
can all benefit from having a centralized resource on college--because
indeed, it really is the next great step in our lives.
This is a very
special project since it will require the input of a lot of people to be
useful--so send more links and thoughts when you can!
The first link is right below, and I HIGHLY recommend
it. It has an awesome scholarship search that keeps sending you updates.
It'll take a while to sign up, but its well worth the effort!

Pros: Large searchable list of
scholarships and resources
Cons: Ads proliferate every corner--but not enough to cause trouble;
signing up takes time
This site has a constantly updated list of
scholarships, and tons of information on college application,
admission, and other useful info. But beware of the ads, that
proliferate this otherwise excellent resource--for they are many.
Here's an article for to help those folks get
started on their research: What
are colleges looking for in students? |

Work
Slowed by Crash near Endeavour Arctic Base!

Photo by Northern Frontier Wildlife Committee
June 14 -- Work on this site has been impeded by
an incident at the Northern Front while our staff members were on a
routine survey of the Endeavour Arctic research sites. Alex Skyrien
and our main photographer were traveling on an airship near Grise
Fjord, Nunavut Province, Canada when the ship's aerolifts stalled
soon after takeoff, crashing about 200 miles north of the town.
Immediately after escaping from the crashed
aeroship, a small ANS-17 shuttle carrier, a pack of five polar bears
began to follow the staff members. After nearly an hour of running,
the polar bears finally caught up with the two staff members.
However, danger was averted when Alex removed a Coca Cola bottle
from his jacket and presented it to the bears. He comments that
Pepsi would not have produced a similar effect.
A recovery ship arrived two hours after the initial
crash. No one was injured in the close encounter, though Alex is
recovering from minor hypothermia from the incident. Neither have
been available for further comment, and work on Angelex has been temporarily
stalled. An ensuing investigation attributed unusually cold weather
for the crash.
Angelex work shall commence as soon as all staff
members have safely returned from the Arctic escapade, and is
expected to be completed by Sunday.

Is
Angelex Alive??? - By Alexander
June
3 - The end of the school year draws near with only 1 (!) final exam
day left there still is no new Angelex online. As we near 1 full
month of offline time, people have begun to ask if Angelex is
still alive.
I must say YES!!! However, our problems were many. As you probably know, as students of NNHS, we have
been very busy with end of year projects and final exams, and I did
not want to post a full update until the entire site is remodeled.
Obviously, I did not have the time to commence such an undertaking
over the last month. However, since summer is only 1 day away (!), a
vast quantity of time is soon at hand. So, I feel the need to
announce that the site will be under extensive reconstruction until
some time between June 8th and 12th, which then we will be back in
full swing with an all new look and several special sections
devoted to the end of school. Thank you for your enduring patience.
Things to look for on June 10 ~ 13th:
 | 2001 - 2002 Sophomore School Year Review: Focusing on classes (and our own 1st biannual teacher
awards - one chemistry teacher has already claimed the "Dry
Humor Award"), events, memories... and of course,
the people! |
 | Redone Art Section |
 | Photo Gallery (or at least a start anyway) |
 | And probably a lot more! |
|
 |
So, get those web browsers ready to explore a new Angelex, June
12th!

Addressing
the Forum Problem
May 4 - To address the growing
content problem with the Angelex Forum, we have decided to:
1. Deactivate the current forum
2. Build a new forum on ezboard
3. Require registration before posting
4. Put censors in place to filter profanity
...along with a host of other new
features. It is our belief that this new forum will be much better
than the last so we urge everyone to start using the new forum. The
current forum will still be accessible, but please disregard (or at
least put little weight in) any messages posted after 1:00 PM
5/4/2002.
The new forum can be
accessed at:
http://pub39.ezboard.com/fangelexfrm1
The old forum is still
at: http://pluto.beseen.com/boardroom/s/59170
Thank you for listening.
